Lighting Design

The illumination of a building has an immense impact on how the space “feels” to the occupants. It can make a space warm and inviting, cozy, intriguing, whimsical, elegant, or institutional. Our lighting design team understands how to select where to spend dollars on decorative items and where to focus on economy all while keeping an eye on energy efficiency and lamp maintenance. With the advent of LED fixtures and advanced lighting control systems, we can find the right mix of design style with an eye on durability and lamp life.

Power Distribution

The electrical service and power distribution systems are critical to a building. The design and engineering that goes into this system is critical and must be done correctly to handle the challenges of ever increasing load demands and unforeseen issues. Our team of engineers has the experience with large scale power distributions that include industrial plants with their own medium voltage distribution, cross-tied service entries, redundant providers, backup generation, and N+1 design for data centers.

We have designed power delivery systems for some of the key internet data centers that control international data networks that require 99.99% uptime and have designed plants that constructed their own power 10 MW generation equipment with natural gas turbine generators and the medium voltage distribution. When it comes to reliable power systems, we have you covered.

Plumbing Systems

The needs for a domestic plumbing system include many things that can range from simple to complex. Our team of engineers has the experience with critical systems for hospitals and jails to the more straightforward requirements for schools and office buildings. The key to a plumbing system that works well is attention to detail when it comes to fixture selection, ease of maintenance with items such as backflow prevention devices, pressure booster systems, and robust water heater plants design with fault tolerance to accommodate downtime service requirements.

We are well versed in systems that include:

  • Medical gas
  • Fuel gas
  • Compressed air
  • High purity water / dialysis systems

HVAC Systems

Our approach to designing an HVAC plant includes an evaluation and analysis of what the specific needs and attributes of each project include. Not every system is the best for every client or every building. We focus on listening to the unique needs of the end users to design a system that maximizes efficiency, minimizes maintenance costs, fits within the budget constraints, meets the life cycle requirements, and provides the flexibility that the Owner needs. Some projects require complex systems that are very efficient but require high skill level maintenance staff while others require simple technology that can be maintained by outside contractors with less complexity. We also strive to specify the best control systems to optimize operation of the plant with appropriate degrees of complexity for the owner’s needs.

Our experience with systems includes a wide array of approaches that includes:

  • Boiler plants
  • Chiller plants
  • Central station air handlers
  • Heat pumps
  • Packaged equipment
  • Variable refrigerant flow
  • Chilled beams
  • Campus distributions
  • Digital controls
  • Energy recovery systems
