School Renovation Cuts Energy Bills in Half

Fort Wayne Community Schools is currently midway through a large bond project that will renovate several buildings in the district. Snider High School was the largest building in the bond to have new HVAC, plumbing, power distribution, and lighting systems along with new window glazing in classrooms. The project is a little over 50% complete and we are happy to report that the electrical use for this building have been cut nearly in half with the renovations and we are not done yet. We still have some more work to do before we can put into action the control strategy to reduce the gas bills with a revised boiler control method. Check back in a year....

The reductions were accomplished by designing a more efficient pumping system, using more efficient lights with occupancy controls, improved window glazing, variable speed fan motors, and optimized control strategies to maximize the impact of this renovation.
